Kelly Maxwell

Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director

Las Vegas native, Kelly Maxwell brings business acumen and a local’s knowledge of her community to her role with the 18-year-old nonprofit. Using her experience in for-profit-sector business development, Maxwell has transformed Baby’s Bounty into a community leader amid an unprecedented economic crisis.

Concurrent with a career in executive leadership in both hospitality and technology, Maxwell joined Baby’s Bounty as a board member in 2014 before moving into the CEO/Executive Director role in 2020.Taking the helm very early in the COVID-19 pandemic, Maxwell expanded the organization’s programming with the creation of the first consistent diaper bank resource in the state of Nevada. She then expanded the diaper bank beyond Las Vegas into Henderson, North Las Vegas, Northern Nevada and added mobile diaper banks in both Northern and Southern Nevada to address diaper need in rural, underserved communities.  Since their inception, the Baby’s Bounty diaper banks have distributed seven million diapers to over 45,000 families, resulting in a more than 1,300% increase in the organizational budget and an 8,000% increase in the number of clients served annually.

Continually seeking ways to remove barriers for parents struggling in poverty, Maxwell launched Diapers for Diplomas, an innovative partnership with Nevada’s NSHE institutions to provide diapers for parenting students enrolled at participating colleges and universities. She worked to successfully pass SB428 with Senator Edgar Flores removing the sales tax on diapers which then was approved by voters in 2024 to codify the tax abatement.  In partnership with Congressman Steven Horsford and other stakeholders, Maxwell is working on a Childcare Solutions Summit to address the childcare crisis in Nevada. Through these, and other projects in the works, Maxwell aims to continue expanding services in support of Nevada’s tiniest residents.

Maxwell has been recognized for her work addressing diaper need by the National Diaper Bank Network, the State of Nevada, Congresswoman Susie Lee and Senator Jacky Rosen. She is a Jameson Fellow, a Court of Master Sommeliers certified sommelier, a graduate of the Leadership Las Vegas 2022 cohort, a guest lecturer at UNLV’s Lee Business School and Honor's College and Nevada State University and serves as the Governor appointed Chair of the Statewide Diapering Resource Committee. A lifelong learner, Maxwell attended Earl Warren College at the University of California, San Diego, is currently pursuing an advanced degree at DePaul University and holds an honorary Master's Degree from Nevada State University.
