Hundreds of pounds of basic items for babies were loaded on to trucks and delivered to a Las Vegas charity thanks to the employees of American Casino & Entertainment Properties. American Casino owns the two Arizona Charlie's in Las Vegas and the Aquarius Hotel and Casino in Laughlin.

Over the past six weeks the nearly 5,000 employees of the company have donated car seats, bottles, diapers, clothing and more to Baby's Bounty. Monday, two trucks were loaded with all of the items collected and brought to the non-profit headquarters.

“This will go a long way toward helping newborns in need in our valley.  As our demand for assistance keeps growing, every financial and item donation drive becomes more critical,” said Baby’s Bounty founder, Kim Amato.

Baby's Bounty provides basic needs for newborns in need in southern Nevada. Since it was first created three years ago the charity has helped more than 1,200 newborns with necessities. The non-profit will hold drive at the Baby Expo at South Point Casino on August 6.

For families unprepared for the stork's visit, Kim Amato is the necessities-wielding fairy godparent trailing closely behind.
Amato is founder and CEO of Baby's Bounty™, a nonprofit organization devoted to providing essential clothing and gear to babies born into disadvantaged families. By the end of this month, Baby's Bounty™ expects to have helped 1,000 newborn recipients take home a diaper bag filled with new and gently used infant items and safe equipment to sleep and travel in.
Since July 2008, Amato has worked with 60 local service agencies to help low-income families leave the hospital equipped to care for their new addition.
"I'm not a social worker," she said. "I'm just a girl with a dream."

Out of Difficulties Grow Miracles
By Kim Mervine

Kim Amato, Founder of Baby’s Bounty, is just that to many new Moms and babies throughout the Vegas Valley….a miracle!

In July of 2008, Kim recognized the need in our community to provide Moms and babies at risk with the essential clothing and gear to ensure that they would thrive in the most crucial months of their new lives. And so, Baby’s Bounty was “born.”

Through collaboration with social service agencies, hospitals, homeless shelters, safe havens and family courts, new mothers at risk are identified by their caseworkers who carefully screen them to determine what items are needed. Baby’s Bounty typically gives each new mom a diaper bag filled with a collection of new and gently used infant clothing, blankets, bottles, hats and bibs, and even a toy. Depending on the need, a client can receive an infant stroller, bassinet or porta crib, swing or bouncer and a bathtub filled with toiletries. Volunteers sort donated clothing and fill the diaper bags. Caseworkers are contacted when the requested items are ready and they deliver everything to the new Mom.
